3/5 LJ Kelp/PL Kelp/SD Bay..comedy of errors

Ok so have you ever had one of those days where everything sorta went wrong? Well read on and I promise that you'll feel better about however your day went once you hear about mine.

0530: up and out of bed, convinced it's gonna be a great day on the water, load up the truck, hook up the boat, call Joe (crzyboy180) tell him I'm on the way...and off I go.

0635: At the SI ramp, putting the rods in the rocket launchers, hookin up the GPS/Sounder, grabbin the cooler of soda... still convinced it's gonna be a great day.

0636: take the transom straps off, pat the pocket for the boat key......hello boat key...you in there? Mr. Boat Key...where could you be? Nextel the wife....boat key still on the piano by the front door.....sucks to be me...Joe spins me all the way to Lakeside to get the key.....we're just gettin started...it gets WORSE>

0815: finally back at ramp after rush hour traffic...put the boat in the water, get bait...killer scoop of dinos...and away we go...get to green tanks off PL....bait is all dead...it all rolled...baitpump took a crap on me...........startin to wonder if I should just turn around and head in...wonderin if its just not my day.

0815-1100: work green tanks with the fresh dead dines...NADA, BUPKIS...zippo...go to La Jolla and meet up with Johnny B who hooks a brother up with two bait nets full of dinos...bait pump workin again...could be improving....know its not my day...but holding out hope that it could change.

1100-1115: no fish, start haulin for the bay where I KNOW I can scrape up some turd rollers on plastics to save the day....Surf Doc calls on the radio..shoot the breeze with him...not paying attention...hear weird engine noise....did I mention it sounded weird? Weird noise followed by LOUD FUGGIN ALARM....motor smoke...motor stop... this is bad. Shut'er down, run to transom, look into water and observe plastic bag sticking out of impellor intake...good times!!!!! Call Surf Doc on the radio to start some help rollin....wait 10 mins and engine wont crank...overheat alarm still ringin. Thinkin of doing the hail of shame on 16 for VA.

1130: motor cranks, start nursin her towards zuniga, call surf doc tell him to cancel the run, think I can make it....Know day is hosed....DEFINATELY now convinced its not my day, shoulda stayed in bed.

NOW COUPLE ALL OF THE ABOVE WITH.......a nice 4-5 foot swell from the west and a 2 foot cross swell from the south and about 10kts of wind........now I'm wet, pissed off, got no fish, boat screwed up, got the boat ho lookin at me like I've got headinrectum syndrome.......did I mention that I was pissed and it wasn't my day?

1200: look up at radio antenna........notice half of it's gone.....dayam freeway overpasses......dayam skipper forgot to put antenna down last trip.......SECURE IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS DAY IS HOSED>>>>>can't do anything right.

1230-1500: pull into bay...pissed, tie on double secret bay bass plastic rig up and pull a nice tally of 3 turd rollers, 2 spotties, 1 slimer, and a rattlesnake for me and Joe............Joe looks at me and says...."Still better than work".....still pissed but know he's right.......I'll be out next weekend doing this to myself again.....

Thinkin that boat ho'ing wasn't so bad.........

Damn

Sounds like you got all of your bad luck all at once.

One thing is for sure, it won't have to improve much to get a whole lot better.

Best to get it out of the way now before the fishing gets really good.

Hang in there.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Although it was terrible day for you, and your boat, I must admit the story was very entertaining, good writing......
