SI with friends 10/4 am

I met up with Spyderdude and Taz for a quick morning session out of SI. We met up early in the parking lot and it's a good thing. A lot of pre-fishing for next weeks tournament and the parking was scarce.

We hit the water at 6:15 to a very high tide and little wind. We paddled over to the first spot and started to toss the plastics. Jim and Taz picked up a couple of macs and I managed one nice sculpin off the spot. The fishing was not wide open and the tide was now slack.

We decided to head to the same spot that ws on fire the other day. The fishing there was slow as well. We continued to throw plastic for about and hour or so and I managed only two spotties. I don't know if My companions hooked any at that spot.

Taz had to leave early and Jim and I stuck it out hoping to look for some different areas. We waved goodby and moved over to another area that was close by.

The tide started to move and the fishing started to pick up We found and area that had a nice drop from 20 feet to forty feet and gave it a try. Bendo on the first cast. This fish was pulling hard and taking drag on the 8 lb test. A few minutes later and a nice sandy hits the deck

Shortly after that Jim hooks up a nice one.

We continued to scratch the spotties and sandies when the tide was moving. We caught a few more and decided to call it a day as it was a little past 10am.

We hit the first spot on the way back for another sculpin and then hit the launch and loaded up the vehicles.

It was a fun day with friends with a little fishing thrown in.

Fish Count:
8 Spotties (12-15in)
7 Sandies (14-19in)
2 Sculpin (fatties)

All C&R

Hey Scott,
It was great fishing with you and Taz on Sat.
The tide and wind was behaving wierd in the early am then started rippin' out around 0800. I'm glad I stuck around and we found that sweet spot. Almost every other cast we were reeling in spotties and sandies. Them big sandies were fun as hell landing on the small tackle. Once again the fish were chewing on the "secret" plastics & hot sauce. I have to get me a fishfinder ASAP so I can locate dem fish like you do, lol.
Here's a pic of one of the spotties I got and also the biggest sandie I have nailed off my yak.

Peace,

Spyder

Nice fishing with you as well. That was a nice sandy you boated I think the plastics we were using were bigger than that spottie of yours.

Nice job out there. If you do get a finder make sure you don't go cheap. The nicer models are worth it in the long run.
