Let me preface the day with this...
I live here on the west coast and my grandfather and mother live on the east coast. My grandfather used to take me fishing as a kid on his boat every summer growing up. As I'm sure many of you did the same you know how good those memories are as a kid. Fast forward to today and I celebrated my 30th birthday and my grandfathers 70th birthday with a fishing trip on my own boat. It took alot to get a 70 year old man on a plane but I did it.
So we started out in Dana Point, my the wife, my grandfather and my mom. 3 generations fishing together on a beautiful day. I've had my boat for a few months now and no keepers so far. On this day the FIRST bite of the day... 32" 10lb halibut! My mom got him on the bottom with a dine.
My mom couldn't be happier as you can see here....
She did get a little wet on the ride
Pop and I had some quality bonding time....
Mom was proud of her catch

He also showed me how to fillet a fish
Then we cooked that sucker up and had fresh halibut
This my friends is what fishing is all about. Quality family time with every generation you have available to you.
That was the only keeper of the day, but boy did that get us by!.
P.S. caught her while drifting right off san mateo pt. Didn't wanna go where all the cowboats were so I moved a few miles south and bam.
