12-17 rocky point/ PV

Left Davies around 6am on Wednesday 12/17 and went strait out to nachos looking for some squid to chase these early seabass which have been showing up everyday I dont fish
Nacho didnt have any squid so we ran to LA bait off Cabrillo Beach to throw down 40 bones for a half scoop. With bait in hand we ran to the numbers to find the Marina Del Rey Boat, Long Beach boat, pierpoint, Redondo etc... well you get the picture. We set up a few drifts in some good wind in the am for not much than a lot of small fish eating our 40$ 1/2 scoop of squid and giving us the middle flipper. I decide to park right next to the Sea Spray and soak bait for an eternity talked to Waatoosee on the phone,Talked to Ahituna etc...
pull in one jumbo calico and decide its time to move. By this time the weather is fabulous. We drift for halibut for a while and again get multiple strikes, a few junk fish , but nothing to talk about. Tried one last spot south of Emmy and I finally hook something noteable, I am double bendo on a very heavy fish and get it 10ft from the boat and pow!! Fricken broke off!! Licking my wounds and calling it a nice day, as it was very nice. Hope to do better next time ,as without the effort no reward can be met.
Sorry for the long post, could have just said , didnt catch shit

I've been wanting to chase that wsb as well. Why didn't ya launch out of MDR? Larry has squid right now. We are going to be back up launching MDR again this sat. Would love to figure out where that wsb is. I've heard rocky point and palo alto. I don't know the areas south of MDR very well. Sorry you didn't get into anything today. I was wishing I was fishing.

Jason , they(seabass) have been in that area for a couple of weeks now, you just have to pick your day and get lucky. The squid have been coming up from Redondo Canyon. The area where the seabass are is about a mile east of Rocky point, in about 45-80 ft depth, probably closer to Redondo than anywhere, but its still a short run for me from Long beach, maybe 10 -15 miles. I have a few friends who have alot of info when they are around, I will let you know in the future. They just take alot of patience and perserverence, but when you hit it, the rewards are well worth it.

Hey Greg

Bummer the fish didn't go on the chew, thanks for the invite, sorry I could not join you. It must of been a pleasant surprise to find the water not so windy, it sure blew in Diamond Bar both Weds. and Thurs.
