caught my first sharks today

Punkfish and I set out this morning with one goal in mind; hook me up to my first shark. We ended up hooking 10 of these babies. Ranging in size from 3' up to almost 5'. Thanks Jas. Here's some pics..........

Here I was expecting to see a Monster Mako and I see a baby smooth hound gaffed

Good job on the sharks. They are great fun on the light tackle. Use to go down every night years ago to huntington harbor and they would just get stupid on the 6lb test. Be on those things for twenty minutes. Good job getting into the fish.

we wanted the big hook up but they took the day off. after trolling for a while we put the 6/0 away and went inside the break wall for some calico or halis. we ended up catching sharks after all. just not the awsome kind. It still justified me lying to my boss to get out of work.

Nice catch, but just for the record smooth hound sharks taste like shit and are not considered edible.

Pics turned out nice Preston, and for the record all were released unharmed. I know the first one looks gaffed, but he's just hung for the pic for Preston, it was his largest fish ever. We left H.B. around 8am to pretty nice seas, hit the outside platforms and dropped some bait-o-matics in hopes of a T! Trolled up the line for a while for nada! Wind was picking up quick and started to turn really snotty, made the decision to hit the inside of the wall for some Calico action, no love. We anchored up, to prevent our super fast drift, and happened to be sitting right on top of these guys. It was hit after hit with double bendos on 6lb. grinder set ups. Since nothing else was happening it turned out to be a pretty fun day on light tackle, hell, I wasn't at work!! BTW- We'll get you the larger more tasty model on Sunday Preston!
