Inaugural run… Broken belts, problems at the dock, and puke in the berth..

Well, day started late because my girlfriend wouldnt get out of bed. She was dropping me off in oceanside and continuing down to San Diego to pick Kepdawg and I up and go back to oceanside. Kevin stayed the night on the boat the night before. So I get there at just before 9 (supposed to be there at 8) we get on board, loaded up, and we are off to get bait. After bait we head out and that's when the rockin and rollin started. Too me it was nasty. Further south and farther out we went the nastier it got. Just about as we are passing the power plant in carlsbad I head down to the Vberth because I am starting to feel it. Now I got VERY little sleep the night before, was all jazzed up about word of Tsharks and getting blood on my deck, and had del taco for breakfast, so the combo was not happy for me. If I lay down I wont get physically sick, but I laid down, sat up, asked for a bucket and in the 2 seconds it took for Kevin to hand it to me (and it was literally 2 seconds) I had revisited my entire steak and breakfast burrito all over the vberth.

I stayed that way the WHOLE way into mission bay. I of course had to pee real bad the trip down so went outside hung it over the side and would stop to heave, pee, heave, pee, heave, well you get the idea lol (I need to get that head fixed, pump sounds like its working, but no water) :_diarrhea

Though I got to give it to Kevin he kept the good tunes going in the new CD player that he installed

About half way down we lost a belt on the port engine, and of course the nut on the alternator is stripped, had the extra belts, but no way to get them off. So we limped in on one engine. Heard about quite a few Tsharks, Kev saw a few up on bait (all I saw was a bucket with chum lol)

Once we got in called up the girls to meet us down to go get some grub, and came in contact with the dock master. Apparently we did not meet up to his standards. VERY angry and ornery guy, not sure why. I told him what I was doing after he came up to me being VERY abrasive, and than he asked where I came from and I said oceanside, and he than proceeded to tell me to not get to comfortable because I was going back there... I literally hadnt said two words to the guy. I think he saw me and thought I might be trouble or something and instead of ASKING or talking to me, he decided to be unhappy and grumpy. So after thinking the boat was going to be at Islandia, it wont be for long. So need to now find ANOTHER slip...

Anyway... Crappy day... Kepdawg kept saying the swell was nothing, but I know it was bad when a displacement hull picks up some air in the front going 9mph lol (of course that could have been from my vantage point )

New bilge pumps, a tune up, new belt, and some scapalmine (sp?) patches for me and it will be time for tails and tuna...

Just thought I would share

Well the list of things that have been fixed , and corroded wires and connections is quite large and not all the way done by anymeans. Muchless putting on a 3000 watt inverter, replacing float switches, adding high temp alarms for the engines on the bridge, and fly bridge. 2 1/2 full days worth of work and just got the bare minimums for underway travel compleated for this trip just to move slips.
The worst case senerio could have happened today as I really wanted to get away from the puke smell and considered going up to the fly bridge to look better for Mr.T.
Well, if I would have done that I would not hear the music and no meter up there. I was able to catch the overheating @ 195 degrees as the F/W pump is belt driven.
On the fly bridge I most likely wouldn't have noticed it untill the engine sized/died/shot in head like a hurt horse.
Glad the engine appears fine other than the stripped bolt that a pair of big vice grips wouldn't even budge.
I have 1st to second degree burns on my arms from leanning over the hot engine trying to get a belt adjustment to no avail.
As far at the guy (dock master) cooping an attitude was IMO way outta line.
The slip is paid for by (whoever) and that slip should be allowed to have any boat that is authorized by said slip renter as the renter of the slip see's fit!
As far as I can tell he is just an old guy with too much power and only has sex by himself. Grumpy MF'er!!!!!
The sea's weren't too bad and wish we could have cruised @ 12 knots and had some time to catch something.
We got a nice 1/2 scoop of dines, macks, and 1 anchovie from oceanside's bait reciver and I slowed to idle at the varity kelp and brailed bait and the calico's and one bigger fish (wsb?) boiled and jumped around and it looked really fishy on a strong up hill current in off color kind of clean water.
Saw one skiff north of there with 6 people on a small skiff hook and land a legal cuda just north of there on a jig.
The bait and threshers seemed to be stacked on bait on the northern canyon edge and a desert on the southern edge due to up hill current.
Heard of t's from the weather bouy to del mar to just outside a mile from the pier.
I saw my twin set on the 50 line on the north side of the canyon with no birds on it for a solid 5 minutes.
1 seagull found it and it turned in to a nice bird school very quickly.
I'm tired as I stayed up untill 1:30 am working on stuff mainly saftey issues and the crank ass stereo which IMO was a saftey issue for the ride.
29ish miles in 3.6 hrs and made me remeber twin screw inboard/rudder boats drive like crap with only 1 engine.
Being sick on the water sucks, but I was supprised as he stuck it out like a tropper, and recoperated rather quickly after getting in the bay.

Kev I definitely owe you more crab

I really appreciate everything you have done and you know I will always owe you man. Jen said she had a great time with Lilly and would love to hang out with her again and that restaraunt was great, grubbed down on the rest of the chimichanga when I got home

Yeah once we got back in I was doin much better and when we did get to la jolla it did lay down, I think I was just too far gone at that point, but next time ill take your recommendations to avoid getting sick. Like I said if it happens again I'll lay there and you guys can kill some fish, would have been cool with that this time but with the engine going down and all... As long as I lay down and dont move im good lol Sure broke in the new BD shirt and beanie...

Will call the mechanic up this week and see whats up.

Call your Dr. and get a script for Scopace. Same med. as Scapalomine but in pill form. Only thing that works for me.

What's the scoop on the dockmaster? You can rent a slip and they can refuse you using it?
