Went camping up at McGrath State Park in Ventura County this weekend and got a chance to do a little Surf Fishing. Caught over fifty Barred Surf Perch, with this one being the largest. Most of the Perch were dinks, but I still had a fun time getting bit.
When I got back from camping on Sunday afternoon, I took the “Big Drum” out for a quick evening trip with Jason “jscrib” and Mitch “fishrdi”, out in the Santa Monica Bay.
The fishing was pretty good and we caught 20+ Bass in about 2 ½ hours of fishing. We fished plastic swim baits and all the fish were released to fight another day. Here are some of pictures.

Here’s Mitch with the two biggest Calico Bass of the evening. Mitch had the hot stick of the evening on the big Calico Bass. Way to go Mitch!
Here is a picture of Mitch holding up his Jackpot Calico Bass with Jason looking a little sad because he felt the big Bass should’ve been his Bass. Don’t worry Jason, you’ll catch another Big Calico Bass…..someday.
I had nice weekend fishing, can’t wait to go again.
