News SM 12/12 Cod/Bass/Lobster

Got the chance to fish with Martin aka "the looper" on his boat on Monday along with everyones favorite dentist, FishingDentist.

Ben and I met Martin at the launch around 11a and headed out to fish for some rockies. What a beautiful day. Made it to the spot very quickly and Martin put us on some nice fish. Nothing big, but good eating. Martin caught 2nice salmon groupers on the "live chovie" he pulled out of his tackle bag.

After killing a few cod we headed in to fish for some bass before it was time to kill some lobsters. Slow on the bass but we did manage a couple. Also stopped by the newly named "Mackerel Bank" and made some fresh bait for the nets to go along with our other bait.

Me with fish.

Started baiting the traps around 415p and had them in the water by 445p. Relaxed for a while, enjoyed the sunset and had a beer. After our sunset lobster dance it was time to pull some nets for nada. They weren't walking yet. Martin made the call and we moved to a new spot. Good call.

Second or 3rd net at the new spot had a legal. Ben kept pulling and he yanked in 3 more. After a few empty nets it was obvious Ben lost his lobster mojo. Then the 2nd or 3rd net I pull has some weight. Sure enough a 4-5lb bug comes over the rail. Got one more after that and headed in.

Bugs.

Thanks again to Martin. You are really getting the hooping thing down. Can't wait to go again. Also, thanks to Ben for letting us experience his first poop on a private boat. Memories.
