Fished the ripping outgoing today from 10 am to 3 pm. Plastics on or near the bottom from Bali Hai to Ballast Point produced 73 Sand bass mostly the 1.8 lb models, with a few 3 lbers in the mix. Also, we had some incidental catches: a few short and 1 over 24" Halibut caught on a TJW, 1 Sculpin, and 1 baby Black Sea Bass. All Bass C n' R'd, the Scully and the But will cook up nice. No on the water photos this time. Here's the Butt before he got the axe.
I had fun out there, Doin it again Monday maybe...... anyone.... Bueller....Bueller?

BSB was baby baby... like "This would be good halibut bait small."
Looked up BSBs and found a little guy that was the spittin image of the one I caught.
Not a trophy by any means, but a very cool little fish.

Well, we were drifting all over the place, and since the rental does not come with an anchor, we go with the flow. We found fish in 10 feet of water and 40 feet of water.
I don't think the technique I use can be called dropshotting, so I'll name my own method "drift-shot". Yesterday's wind and strong current called for 2 to 3 oz. weight on 8 to 12 lb line to keep 4 to 5 inch plastics danglin from bottom contact.
Occasionally I would cast and hop retreive a TJW when we were shallow, and that's how I got the Hali.
