9/14 Late PM La Jolla

Hit La Jolla at 6pm tonight, hopeful for a evening bite. In my plans (dreams?) I was thinking I would be heading out duing the evening glass-off. I was wrong on both counts. Sloppy and windy conditions...nothing big but heading straight into the 10-15kt wind/chop is never a fun ride. Bait was so thick....2 drops of the sabiki has me with 4 smelt (5in) and 3 spanish (7-8in). I slow trolled one smelt and one mac till well after sunset for nada. Did catch a few pencil cuda and countless macs on the 3inch megabait. There were probably 7 boats out in the NW corner and birds were working everywhere. Looked like something was going to happen or just happened....but radio traffic said it was pretty slow. Looks like I missed it. Water at the NW corner was green (with very low viz) and 65deg. Good luck out there.

Alex

Re: 9/14 Late PM La Jolla

I was out this morning for the morning bite and only managed 2 (farmed 2 more) for four of us. Weather was rough from the get go. Stayed till 5 p.m. At least you missed the parking lot traffic, with more than 40 boats all bunched up with the cattle boats. Here are the Yellowtail's we pulled on today:

Its going to be a zoo this weekend if the Yellowtail cooperates.

Re: 9/14 Late PM La Jolla

was also out there wednesday morning, way more traffic than monday and the weather was horrible. The yellows made a small showing about 9:30am, but nothing like the previous 2 days. We hooked two, fed one to the sea lion, and one to the kelp.

I think we would have done much better if we had more greenies. ITs all about the greenies.
