Fished Lj on Labor day. My fourth day and I fished with Joe.

We started out slow trolling spani's off of Windin to north of the hotel and then west. Get to the NW corner see a gut in a yak poseing with nice Yellowtail. Asked a few Q's and went on my way.

See some Mackies breaking and thought that I saw some fish breaking in them. Joe and I were the only boat in the area.

Ok this next parts a little hard to talk about. Their were Yellowtail all around the boat grooving VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV's all through the water. I tried throwing Lite's, Heavy's, Big, Small, Mega Baits, and Live Baits but none would eat. This went on the whole day and was very frustrating.

All the fish with the exception of a handfull were 15-25 lb fish.

Did get one wsb on a small greenie was a short or close to legal(pulled the hook trying to bounce it in the boat). It was to bad that the small one ate my bait and not the big one that I saw. But hey I finally Hooked One before I saw it.

The water cleaned up and was green(no more red tide) and seemed to be warmer than yesterday. It was foggy in the morning but turned sunny mid morning with a slight breeze all day.

We ended the day with about 7-8 calicos caught mostly by Joe. Calicos were caught on plastic and a trolled CD-10 fire tiger Rapalla.

We did have a fun day and as soon as the bait starts to thin out it will go off. All the yellows were eating chove and seemed to be very slugish.

Hope somebody wacks some of those backyard mossback soon, just leave two or three for me. Go get bit Ryan.

thanks for the report went out to the kelp beds after going offshore today and was casting out jigs but all i would catch on my irons was mackeral.very frustrating

Thanks for the report, I was out there today too and no such luck. It was around 4 or 5 pm today and it was pretty lonely on the LJ kelp beds. All we caught were Macks. Maybe next time, I skip the bait barge and net my own bait...

I broke 2 of the 4 flies off of my Sabiki and still cuaght plenty of bait. I think that I may have been able to get a sniff from those forkies if I had some deans though.

Those yeller's were everywhere! Hope you get some next time.

Rick yes I did put in some time this weekend. Wish I would have caught a fish like yours. Nice fish!
