Thumbs up sand bass 8/8/03

well i finally got on the water again we got down around south island and after we anchored i got my fish trap in and when i brought it up a huge wsb was chasing it up but i didnt get him...... 20 min later another wsb came up in our chum then ernie (the captian)
went to the bow with a sardine and he hooked him and we got it but the damn seal that was on us almost got it at gaff.. i cought some toad sandbass. that was pulling drag on my callcutta 250. after we loaded up on sand bass we went to get some cuda and some yellows we get there and i made a cast and the first turn of the handl i was on with a nice cuda and when i went to bounce it the jig went flying it didnt hook anybody, after that i was done but therei s yellows and cuda on the bird schools just north of north island.....
good luck guys go get em

total 5 sand bass

Way to go!

Travis, pulling drag on a Calcutta, must of been some real toad sandies. Too bad ya just missed the WSB on the plastic, what a thrill that coulda been. The tails this year just don't want to play, it might be a good fall season.
