Fist Callico Bass

First Callico Bass
Trolled south end of La Jolla kelp for an afternoon of fun yesterday.
At about 50yds out from the kelp line my Rebel Fastrack lure was getting hit after hit from Callico bass. The water depth was 90ft and we didn't meter any kelp (where we would expect them to be hiding.) There was a lot of debris in the water that may have been acting like structure.
Besides the horrible wind swell and choppy conditions it was a great afternoon!
Here's a pic of my first Callico bass

Good job

Trolling those rebel fastracks is the way that the dude's who wrote The Baja Catch (Gene Kira and I can't recall the other dude's name) say to fish pretty much everywhere.

Next time, try to catch them on live bait. You'll have a ball.
