I used to fish Crystal Pier when I was a kid. Alot of bait in the water. Use a sabiki rig and catch live bait from the pier. Cast the sardines or mackies out w/a larger pole for Yellowtail, Halies and barries. I don't know if it was illegal but we fished for lobsterw/a nylon stocking w/ mackie stuffed in about 8" and tied to the line. Drop the line straight down. The lobster would latch onto the nylon and not be able to get loose.

Nice day!!!

Lamb crew fished Crystal Pier first few summers we got to SD.

All the way at the beginning, where the first bungalows are. We would come in the morning (sucks, opens at 8:00am), pick some mussels from underneath, and cast behind breaking surf, in maybe 5-6 feet of water? Lots of yf croakers, perch closer to the structure. Corbina, corvina sometimes. First short WSB for me.

The tourists all asking questions, talking to you... There is fish in the water? fish?:
