late warrior fishing report

computer dead at home, better late then never.
Met the marines at si 4:30 is John and Jeff. Seebogo showed up around 5 with a cooler full of eats and off we went. Breezy but nice. picked up bait and straight to the rockpile for nothin, I farmed something on a flylined dean.
The current was really rippin And Bo kept busy getting the right weight on for the guys. After a couple hours of that we drifted up the lee side of south Island dragging halibut rigs. Again nothing. Then to the middle grounds where we enjoyed large crossed up swell and ripping current and no fish. So back to drifting by the mex navy base trying to figure out how to get these guys on fish, by now they were sleeping. So called around on the vhf looking for something going on. Par responds with numbers for wide open sandies, and its only 2 miles north east of our positions Allright! Put the wood to the boat and headed over at 27 knots. Big THANK YOU! to Par. The current was ripping to fast to keep bait on the bottom and the guys couldn't get the hang of jigging. Jeff did pick up a couple but John was getting discouraged. Bo let him know that we weren't going home until he was catching fish. We then occupied a spot formerly occupied by a sportie.. now were fishing on the hook
104' green water over sand. The fishing really picked up and John was hauling in the toads! So we hung around doing that until they had all they wanted.
Smiles all round and the warriors went home with a cooler full of bass.
The weather really laid down in the afternoon and it was very pleasant.
Visited at the BBQ breifly then towed er home. Big thanks to all who put the warrior event together and thanks Bo for all your efforts. Now when those pelagics gonna show?

Great report! Sounds like not giving up paid off for you guys. Glad you were able to put them on fish!! WTG.
