Quick report. Launched from Davies at 5am and made some smelt and minimacks and got a scoop of Deins from nacho and ran to our spot inside the harbor. Dropped them down and about an 1hr later I got a 22lb butt on a 8" smelt.

We proceded to farm three more nice ones in the next four hrs and we got one more 26" to keep the other big'n company in the hold. We also released for or five 21 to 22" butts and a 23, 23 1/2, 24, 25" butts as well. Off the water at 1pm. There still there!!

VERY nice fish!

It was good to see you again today at Davies when you were coming out of the water.

Behdad, I pounded your butt hole on Sunday for a 33" 17 lber. Added a second 46" drift chute which knocked my SOG down to 1.3 to 1.5 knots as opposed to the previous 1.7 to 2.0 knots. That did the trick and I was holding bottom with 1 lb of lead.

I'm curious, are there some cables laying across the bottom just west of Belmont Pier. It's a guaranteed snag there every time.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

BiggestT , Most likely the bottom depth changed and you got hung up going into a shallower spot. The bottom over there changes alot and there are many holes and highspots, thats why the butts are there. We've trolled that area for 3 or 4 times now and haven't lost a rig yet ?? Set your line out so that the weight bounces on the bottom , not drags. The bounce noise will attract the butts and you wont snag as much compaired to dragging the weight. Not sure what gps you got but my cp150 has depth conture lines and we try to follow the edges of the high spots next to deep dropp offs. Thats where the big'ns have been. The conture lines also help us stay at the same depth and avoid sudden high spots that cause snagging. Hope it helps and its good to here you got a #17'r for your effort .
