Solo local hoopin 11-5 midnight to early morning

Early morning local hoopin 11-5

Even though there was a full moon last night I still had the itch to go hoopin as well as doing a little scouting around locally. Been a while since UnReel has left the driveway and it was time to get her wet. Got a way later start than I would have liked , didn’t get my first set down until 11:30pm last night and I hooped until 4:30am. 4 or 5 spots where tried before finally finding a couple lobsters late that wanted to cooperate with me and my gear. First keeper came at 4am and the second came at 4:30am. That was about half way up the mornings high tide. Full moon was in affect too and it was almost like day time out there last night. Never had to use the deck lights at all and I thought there was no way a lobster would be crawling but I guess two where to stupid to stay at home !!! Anyway, got 1 nice keeper and one of the tanker models.

First tanker of the season for me. Also got a interesting looking crab in one of my nets. Damn thing looks like a blue crab ?? Here’s a pic of it

Anyone know for sure what it is?? Released it to live another day. Fun night/.morning on the water. Cant wait until the full moon passes.

Tight lines

Looks to be a Blue Crab for sure. Used to fish for them in South Carolina with a hand line and a chicken neck. Strange out here on the West Coast.

That crab is the same as the ones I've seen up in SMB, quick little bastards! Nice Tanker model Mr B. We should do some more scouting soon!

nice lobsters!

laymans terms, the crab is a blue swimming crab.
similar to the 'blue crab',so poular on the right coast.... commonly found in temperate water.
too small to mess with..for the average Joe's
