Lobster Hoop Nets DFG meeting

Heads up.
The DFG is scheduling a public meeting regarding hoop nets and hoop net regulations.
The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 22nd, 7 p.m. at the San Diego Outboard Boating Club at the head of Shelter Island Launch Ramp.
Unfortunately, I do not have any more information than this...don't know what they want to discuss...maybe someone here can fill us in?
RSVPs are not necessary...I'll post more information if it becomes available.
Jack
PS: Mods, please let this hang in this part of the forum for a while 'til word gets around. thanks.

One source on spearboard said there are 2 plans and one will be chose before the season starts.
  1. regular hoopnets only 5 per person and 10 total per vessel.
  2. regular and eclipse style hoopnets, but only 3 per person and 6 per vessel no matter the arangement of nets. ie; 4 regular and 2 eclipse; 6 regular; 6 eclipse.
I'd go with plan 2.

If anyone has any more info please elaborate.

why would you go with plan two ? that would be less nets per boat, they should ban the eclipse hooptrap altogether or limit those in particular or even easier make the limit 5 lobster per person caught with any gear.

Plan 2 is my bet on what the compromise is going to be. Too easy with 10 per boat and 5 per angler. After all, we gave them the data in the form of report cards. The commercial "fisherman" will vacuum the rest of the reefs in a few months anyway.

I'm all for 10 of the flat style!!! I haven't really noticed that the eclipse style are any better( except they hold more shorts). Infact all of my biggest bugs have come from the old flat style nets. Seems to me that the eclipse style nets are just good for getting a bunch of little guys stuck in them!!!!!
