Long Beach Breakwall 2-1-05

Whew.......6:13 A.M and I just got in the house and finished my dinner.....

Lorrain has been wantin to hit the wall but my boats been outta commision due to some Trailer work so me, her and her brother went for it............

We ended up leaving the house at 11:30........At 11:45 I turned left at Queen Mary Way and a car hauled ass by me.......2 seconds later a dozen cops pass by followed by 6 more......I pull over to the side and let them pass......

Its a high speed chase and they had the road blocked off so I couldn't pass.....Yelling at the guy to get out.......A harbor patrol guy pulls up in front of us so I asked him how long it was gonna take.....He said to just back up to the street and take the back way.......Not sure if he was messin with me or what but couldn't find the back way so I had to back up on the offramp for the first exit to get by........While we were backin up we saw that the guy was in cuffs.....Lorrain couldn't belive I was doing that but I wasen't turning around............

Launched and headed for the wall......Conditions were nice....A bit of a breeze and a nice big swell........Couldn't find a current and had to use the trolling motor all the way up the wall........Fishing was good on the outside but fighting the swell in my little boat and 3 people was exhausting so we went on the inside and caught a bunch of sandies, sculpin and perch.........

Can't wait till tomorrow to get out there again.......Its nice being the only boat out there.......And the only car the ramp .........Suns up......I'm goin to bed....................Warren

Talking Nice fish!!

Nice Calico! I've never fished the wall at night (besides walking out onto it and didn't have much luck). Is the fishing any better at night? I used to take my 16' Aluminum bass boat and fish the wall all the time during the day. What kind of boat do you have, (also curious, do you have radar on your boat)? I know I can take out my center console, but always have been hesistent because I don't have radar. Once again nice fish and thanks for the report!
- Mike

John (front page poster child for SWBA)....I'll see you guy's on Sat......

Stoughty....My boat is 12 feet of luxury sportfisher.....I've been fishin the wall at night before I was able to walk(my dad took me)......I feel more comfortable without having to worry about people running over me.....And the wind is usually calmer at night so my chick has an easier time casting without falling in the water. Its only a couple mile drive to the wall from the ramp............

You don't have any problems seeing at night while running through the harbor? Do you only fish the wall at night when there is a decent size moon out? I'm really interested in night fishing the wall because I've never done it. Only fished it during the day.

Beautiful Kelp Bass, I'm sure that was fun to pull in. Thanks for the report and pics. That's a tournament winning fish if caught during the Wallbanger's Tourney.
