SMUG?

SMUG...Were have you been? We wondered where you were with your always positive outlook on things!!! Have you tried fishing yet? It's a fun sport...maybe you should try and make it to the next MLPA meeting to really express yourself!

I notified the Coast Guard Thursday about this. I then received a phone call at 4:30AM Friday morning from the Coast Guard Command Center where they wanted to know more details. I was told they issued a radio warning after that. I then received an email from the center that they were going to look into it. The email is below -

I don't know who to report this to but according to one of the local
fishing websites, Bloodydecks.com there is a report -

"Metal Stabilizing pipes about 6' long floating all over the 209 bank.
They must have fallen off a cargo ship. They are floating vertical
anywhere from 2" to 2' above the water and are hard to see.

This is about 20 miles off of Oceanside , CA. Is there anyone that we
can report this to? This could be deadly to a private boater,
especially traveling at night.

I don't know if there is going to be an official "clean up crew" dispatched but if these things are 6 ft aluminum poles then they can't be too heavy for a private boater to pick up and maybe make some $$ since the fishing will be poor at best at the 209. Maybe they can salvage the burnt fuel cost by picking them up. I don't remember hearing what the estimate was for how many pipes there were? Does anyone have that?
