The Mexican Navy was out checking boats yesterday. As I was returning form down south, they pulled the guy who was due East of me. After his insepction he got on the radio and explained they were very cool. English was not to good but workable.
They were "Hell bent for glory" to get to him too. I mean they were heading due west from the S.Coronado Island and taking their big boat airborne. And I do mean Airborne. We were all watching and commenting over the net.

I give them 500 yds +-. Less going through the squeeze between S Island and the operations. Its not our country so I don't push it or bitch about it. I'm thankful I can fish there. You can bet your butt the enviros are probably bending the ear of someone in Mex
trying to close that area down too.

It's less than 500 yds from S. Island to the inner pens so that # doesn't work......If you want to go along the lee....Slow down and don't be stupid...More importantly, I hope the injured guy is going to be OK......They've added new pens closer to the Isl. since last year...If you haven't been there recently, don't go through there in the dark...

OK................ sorry for the stupid idea.

But use COMMON sense around the pens. This started cause some one was charging.
So going slow and steady should be cool, and if waved off. Leave.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have been out there many times and even chatted with a few of the fisherman outhere even shared some of my catch with them in exchange for 4 stroke oil on one accasion. Guys are way cool for the most part. Driving really fast anywhere near anything outhere is not a great idea anyway. Take it slow and enjoy the scenery. Use your cabesas ombres e mujeras.

I talked to the guy today. 150 feet away is all they are asking for! There is mexican navy boats at the Coronado's this weekend. Make sure your ducks are in a row!

Thanks for that Jason. 150 feet is more than fair. All my duckies are in a single file line! Thank you very much!

Check out this very thorough case study of the capture-based tuna aquaculture (cbta) operation in Northern Baja California. Grab a couple of tall cans and spend a few hours reading this assessment; its well worth it.
