02JAN Upper and Middle Finger Banks

Spent most of New Year's Eve with Woody Wax, boeshield and brass wool detailing out Barely Legal. I figured today I'd test out the Woody Wax finish and see if blood washes off a treated deck as easily as they say...

Launched out of MB and gave a shout out to Seadawg around 7:00am as I was clearing the jetty. He launched out of SD so he had a pretty good head start on me for going south. I decided to stay closer to home than running all the way down to meet him. Headed for some spots I found on my previous trip and found a few new ones on the way. Picked up a couple Salmon Grouper and a Ling that ran about 23" but decided to release him to grow a little more since I already had one in the freezer.
Things were slow so made a move to the Middle Finger Bank where I got the red. A couple hours later, I heard someone on the radio fishing around the same area I caught the Ling asking if there was a Mexican size limit or if a 23" Ling was ok to keep. Oh well, so much for my released fish having a chance to grow .

Made a few more drifts and got another ling, this time a nice 26". Since they don't seem to learn any better after being released, decided I'd keep this one!
