ringed hooks Vs. circle hooks

Hi all. well ive been using the circle hooks and love how they just set themselves. I still do use j hooks, nothing like swinging that rod and just ripping that hook in to the mouth of that fish.
but what about these hooks like the gorilla ringed, the eagle claw 118, 317 just a few to name that are the j hook with rings.
Ive used them a few times and they seem to do the same as circle hooks. Where they tend to set in the corner of the mouth.
Is that what these ringed hooks are intended to do? I also know they suppose to let the bait swim more freely.
What do you guys know or think?
thanks

i have no problems with good old mustad 2/0's in bronze. the ringed and circle hooks are silly to me. circle hooks have their time and place and i suppose ringed makes the bait swim better, but i have had more hooks pull on me with those damn owners than any other manufacturer. i think it's due to the tiny barb vs. the big barb on a mustad. not saying they are not capable of landing fish, i just have problems with em.

no bragging or anything but i have caught plenty of fish in the past 4 years working overnight, and the mustads get bit just as much as the owners, but they stick much better.

circle hooks for hailibut is the way to go, or so i hear...but i sure love swinging hard with j-hooks, even if that means losing one or two, setting the hook is half the fun

We had a day two summers ago where one guy caught 5 dorado, and the other 2 of us 3. The guy who caught 5 was using the ringed circle. I do believe it allows the bait to swim more freely. I just use the ringed for dorado, as I believe they are among the spookiest of local fish. I also use a flurocarbon leader for dorado; it provides a stealthy presentation as well as more abrasion protection.

For any other local fish, I don't see stressing at $1.25 a ringed-circle hook vs. 10 cents for a traditional one.

oh and ringed and circle arent really comparable a j hook to a circle hook is. ringed has the welded ring on eye if hook i like those. the circle is a hook with a bent back shank.

up to 40#...Mustad 92677 beaked bronze hooks. No need to swing...just point and wind.

$4.00 for 50 of 'em

Owner's just don't have a big enough barb.

I think the owners are too sharp that they ripped out of the fish's mouth.

Ive had the same amount of luck with owners, mustads, vfc and other no names.

I do like the more square shank mustad's i dont know the number but i've always liked em.
