| 9/30 The Boot and West End Catalina Well, Jerry and I took "Young Guns" out to "The Boot", looking for the reported Yellowfin, and to see if any Carp were still in the area. Water at The Boot had cooled some (67.1), but trolling south and west found water up to 70.2. One flock of Sauries, no birds, or Porpoise. Made it to 5 miles off the West End (between the West End and West End Clemente) and found the porpoise, and a few meter marks. 1:00pm DOUBLE!!! Bummer - two 13# Skippies. That's it. There are some KILLER paddies in the area, but nobody home. Well, someone was home on one of them, I dropped a 'dean down about 50' and ZOOOOM, slight pull, and brought up a frayed end. Probably a grinner - I had a dropper w/ 2oz, and a 4' leader, and the line was frayed and gone above the dropper. Don't think it was Carp, the frayed part had curlycues - shark teeth fray. Anyway, beautiful day on the water, and came home with hoop bait. Get'em, Capt. Skip |
