| 8/23 Avalon bank & 14 mile bank
A buddy of mine from SD and I left Alamitos Bay about 5:30, picked up some good bait and made a fast run in smooth seas to the Avalon Bank. Found no love there, so headed east to the 14 mile bank. There were a lot of boats, but there was no love there either. Did not see anybody catching anything. Also, did not see very many paddies and none were holding. Found a pod of Pilot whales and 2 pods of porpoise. Enjoyed watching the porpoise jump in front of the boat, but I would have liked to have seen some tuna below them. Water was 65.5 at the breakwater and got up to 70.2 at the 14. Burned a lot of gas for nada.

Did the same thing on the same day. 117 miles for nada. We were in a 2310 Parker (Sue Sea) walk around with outriggers. Might have seen ya. We'll get next time.

I caught a 100lb Mako at the 14 a few weeks ago at around midnight. We also hooked many blues in rough seas.
One blue was at least 7' long. Most were 3' tho.
