Name: Ray Collier Age: 52 Vessel: 23' Sea Swirl Striper Location: Vista Job:Water District Construction Specialist | Albie's at the 371 and 425 :slap : Short version Fucken NADA. Long version, Left SD bay under the cover darkness with my son Nick brother Roger and his girl friend who are from Florida. She has been featured on a few fishing shows and if you met her you would know why, I did not have to baby sit her she knew what she was doing. She has a few Marlin over 3oo lbs to her credit. Headed up to E bro’s for some nice deens. As were getting bait, there was a live Chicken sitting on the bait dock door. WTF is that doing there? I asked the guy on the dock and he said he was a guard Chicken, he was keeping a eye on the bait. Some funny shit right there. Just fucken classic. The Chicken plays a important part as the day go’s on. We cleared the point around 0430 and set a course to the 371, the water was great but the fog sucked and it was slow going. We finially arrived and a few fish were being caught so out went out the trollers. And the game begins. After a few hours we changed lures for pretty much more of the same. We fished a few paddies that were dry, we did come across one that was holding some very nice yellows that had lock jaw, I would have to say around the 30 pound class. So we tried every thing we knew but no joy. I even had 10 lbs test but no takers. Bastards. We came across another one with 2 huge sunfish on it. One came up to the boat and rolled over on it’s side and just sat there, freaking huge, must of thought the boat was something to mate with, who knows... We left the area and set a course to the 425, as we were listening to the radio there was a report half way in between the 371 and the 425 the Albies were spotted and a boat got a few on the troll. So off we trolled in that direction. At the half was point they came up to the surface, nice boils. I could we them with the bio’s and we were in luck and they sank just as quick. We worked the area for a while and back up they came. So off we go again. Lunch time rolls around and I asked Alicia as a joke if she had a BANANA’S !! Holy Shit. She had 8 of them, We were screwed, we had bad JUJU as soon as she got on the boat and left the dock. Overboard they went. She did not believe me about the bad luck so I asked the boating community on the radio about the bad luck and they were happy to chime in. Now I remember the Chicken, must of been some kind of warning and the Chicken was wording off some evil curse. The rest of the day it was nice but no fish not even one bite. We headed back to the bay and she did get a nice 4 pound sand Bass that was released and a small Hali that was released as well. Met some Bloody Deckers at the docks gave the salute and it was returned, talked a while with fish and game and headed home. Nice day on the water... NO Fish... $ 250.00 in fuel... 8 Bananas.... Chicken warning us of bad JUJU... PRICELESS! |

Ray, that seems to be the mode they are in right now up and down quick and you have to be there at the right time. They also seem to be hitting the real small jigs better also. Too bad about the bananas, better luck next time.

I still don't get how the chicken played an "important role". Guess it was one of those you had to be there things.

Funny stuff.....
Was this the chicken??
Maybe you should have dumped the bananas and taken the guard chicken with you to sniff out the albies???
Or perhaps you needed a different hottie??
Seems like everyone likes the albies these days.

When I was growing up these people down the street had this psycho rooster than would chase the kids and even neighborhood dogs out of their yard. Maybe he's tough enough to chase the gulls and pelicans away?
