First Decks post

First post on BD. Decided to avoid the air show traffic and head out for an all day adventure. Launched from the backyard on the strand and headed to the PL Kelp beads. After about an hour of fishing, not catching, moved towards sunset cliffs. Growing up in Hawaii, I've never seen Yellowtail or how they behave, but as we were slowly motoring outside the kelp, I saw a yellow"ish" tail popping over and under the surface, just swimming around. I tossed a Tady 45 at it about a dozen times. Nothing. Is this normal behavior for this fish? Talk about excitement though. Luckily I had one rig already set up for the occassion. Oh well, back to the bottom. Even though I haven't been able to check the YT off my list, we did end up with some excellent dinner for the family. Great day, and great times. Hopefuly I'll post more in the future!!!

Awesome assortment of taco meat. Next time you should trim the spines off the california scorpionfish,(a.k.a Sculpin) the speckled orange/red ones right away, they really sting when poked !
