Be careful with deer on the road.

The pictures pretty much tell the
story, but here's a brief
explanation...
They were traveling insouthern
Arkansas, between Mena and
DeQueen. Oncoming car clippeda
deer and sent it straight up
into the air. The deer came
down head-first into Clayton's
brand new truck. The deer's
head went thru the front
windshield, cutting the head
(plus some) off, and landed in
Jill's lap. The body of the
deer flipped up, smashed inthe

top of the truck, and landedin
the bed. Clayton couldn't see
Jill from his side, because the
top of the truck was smashedin
so horribly.
He got out of the truck, went
around, and opened the door on
her side...only to start
flipping out, because she was
literally drenched in blood.
However, neither one of them
was hurt. Her parents were
following in a separatevehicle
and didn't see it happen...but
drove up on it rightafterward.

Re: Be careful with deer on the road.

Wonder if he kept the meat?

I drove by an accident scene in Denver a few years ago. A pickup had hit a cow elk on the freeway. The truck looked like it had driven straight into a concrete wall at freeway speed it was so destroyed. The elk looked like it had been hit with an artillery round; there weren't too many big pieces of it laying on the road.

It's amazing the amount of damage an animal like that can do to a vehicle

You bastard

Driving into the Big Bend area around 2:00 a.m. is freaken scary with the amount of big deer that jam across the road, just tall enough to roll over the hood go through the winshield in a car. Nothin like being all hopped up on Red Bulls, sleep deprived and having the shit continuously scared out of you..good times.

Re: Be careful with deer on the road.

A similar thing happened to my uncle in Illinois a couple of years ago. An oncoming car hit the deer and knocked it into the windshield of my uncles car. Decapitated my uncle with his wife and daughter in the car. Lots of therapy going on there. Be very careful and alert when you see the deer crossing signs.

Hookup!

I've had a lot of close calls myself over the years, so I know exactly what you mean.

Worst thing I ever hit was a jackrabbit in the middle of Montana. I never saw it on the road but evidently just as I was about to run it over it jumped straight up into the air, cleared the hood of the truck, and drilled the passenger side windshield pillar and blew up. That was back when MT didn't have a speed limit so I was doing about 90.

It scared the shit out of me and I thought it was a giant bird at first. Wasn't much left of it and I had a nice pink stain that I got to scrub off.

Damn Kevan, that's terrible. I know I've come close to hitting several on different occasions in the twilight hours and at night.
