I would enjoy harpooning a Seal. I would take it home, skin it for the pelt, keep the skull Predator style, eat the meat and share some with whoever wanted to try it. I would use the left over for crab bait.
I proposed harpoon seal hunting at a WDFW meeting around the early 90's. It got a big chuckle around the room except for a couple of kayakers that liked the idea of harpooning a seal from thier kayaks. Regulated sport hunting just like dear. Soon the seals decide it is best to stay as faraway from humans as possible.

I've shot many a varmit, quite a few coyotes and a few of them soul chickens - they have run rampant in the central valley - they eat the quail, pheasant, rabbits, etc. Only the rabbits can reproduce fast enough to keep up.... We don't leave them lie, we hang em on the fence to let the farmers know there is one less than before - also they make good condor food....
