Hiking 2/8 .....deer and illegals

An exciting day you could say, started off board out of my fucking mind this morning cause the surf came up so fishing off the rocks was out. I decided to go for a hike and look for some deer. I do most of my adventureing down by Tecate, where I have been watching an area of public land that holds deer. I also wanted to try another shot at some yote hunting. I leave the truck at like noon and start the hour walk into my deer area, as it turned out I jumped two does on the walk in. Awsome I thought( you know your obsessed with hunting when your on a hike and your heart starts racing when you see a deer) They were close too like 100 yards or closer. I finally get to my glassing spot and lean over to take my pack off when I look below me and there is another deer. That turned out to be the last deer I would see all day. 4 hours of staring through binos and saw nothing.....until right before last light I catch movement at the bottom of the wash. Is it a buck? a Doe? of course not its about 20 illegals all walking in a line. While this might not seem like a big deal to you think about this, I was alone, its almost dark,I was an hour from the truck, in the middle of nowhereville. Also these people are desperate to make it to the U.S. Anyway I watched at a distance for a while through the binos before calling my bro for the Boarder Patrols number. Iam not sure if they cought them but the agent on the phone said the chopper was in route. It seems to me that any hunter who knows how to glass can catch more illegals than La Migra driving around in expensive trucks. Thats it for now, hope I did not bore anyone.

Yeah no yote yet, but I know they are there cause I heard them going apeshit tonight while I was walking to my truck in the dark. As soon as the sun went down the whole place erupts in coyote howls.

I thaink that entire area from otay lake out to tecate is got them all over...we camp just out past the lake and they are there day and night ..oh yeah, deer and illegals too. I just have not found the right map that shows the public land out there.

Right on Taylor. That's an area I've relly never got to know. We use to 4X4 down to Tecate, have a couple brews, tacos and 4X4 back.

Why didn't you bring your gun?

Re: Hiking 2/8 .....deer and illegals

It's not so much that La Migra can't catch them, it's that there really are that many coming across all the time. Everytime I fished at Barrett this year we saw groups. I've seen them while hunting in Pine Valley, Buckman Springs, and McCain Valley. Always make the call and the Border Patrol is on it pretty quick...

Good job on the scouting and the call to the BP. At least you were able to see a "coyote".
