I am heading out ot borrego tonight to ride motorcycles and I want to bring the guns as a back up plan. Only problem is I have never gone shooting and dont even know if there are any legal spots to target practice. "in case I am not in legal persuit of game" If anyone know any good spots let me know.
Thanks

Re: Shooting in Borrego Springs

It is not a good idea to shoot at all in the Anza Borrego State Park, big ticket
item. Try the Mountain directly east of the Jacumba just south of the Border patrol inspection station.

Re: Shooting in Borrego Springs

you cant shoot in the state park...BLM lands are OK for shooting. Make sure you arent in Ocotillo Wells OHV area, Anza Borrego state park, etc. San diego County SUCKS for shooting areas....

If you ever need any "help" shooting that thing let me know.

Funny this topic came up because I was just trying to figure out a place to go shooting. I was eyeballing McCain Valley too as a possible spot for shooting, but that's a hike. I've shot at Project 2000 and it's fine for 100 yards but where do you go if you want to shoot at longer ranges? I found a place called South Bay Rod & Gun Club but it looks like a private facility. Anyone have any info on the range and the membership availability there?

Re: Shooting in Borrego Springs

South bay rod and gun club is public. It costs $20/day or $65/yr. The rifle range steps out to 300 in 100 yd increments (with a 50 yd as well). There is also a pistol and trap range up the hill but I've never shot there. They allow .50s, but you'll probably want to use the bench on the far right with the brick wall separating you from other shooters.

Pala off the 76 goes out to 900 yds.
