San Jacinto Wildlife area need help!!

I was going to shoot Barrett for the opener but my buddy has Res. #5 for San Jacinto so I'm heading up there since I'll be hunting Barrett a lot this year. Unfortunately neither of us has hunted this area before. Can anyone give me some dope on hunting it? I'm not looking for your secret refuge honeyhole but some pointers in the right direction would be great. I've been searching the internet via google and really can't get anything good.

Thanks

Marcus

I hunt SJ about half of the season. You have a great pick at #5 and will have a great time! You can't go wrong if you ask Tom for some help picking out a spot. He's the DFG guy behind the check station counter that issues the blind locations you'll be hunting in, so it's not hard to find him. Let him know your situation as far as dog/ no dog and he'll put you into the best spot for you out there. Good luck and don't be late!Death_To_

Re: San Jacinto Wildlife area need help!!

I am an avid duck hunter, I do will over 30 trips a season just on ducks,

SJ is ok it is not the most consistent place in So. Cal. But here is a tip. Pack a lunch, hopefully you will not need it, but sometimes it is a much better afternoon shot. Then a in the morning, Most of all the hunters that hunt SJ are out of then and on their way home buy 10 am. So as the season go on the locale ducks get used to coming back in the afternoon and never get shot at.

The good knows is all the duck number are up this year.
