| Shot some more ground squirrels today
Took the second daughter out for some shooting today and saw a number of younger squirrels out. The grass is getting tall in spots with other areas stunted so a lot of the shooting was when they were on the mounds, with a few shot in the short grass. The daughters are falling in love with the semi-auto 223 for the lack of recoil.
We were out for about 2 hours and took about 2 dozen squirrels. I think I took 3 shots and the daughter took the rest. Her best shots were a great headshot at about 150 yards and a solid body hit at 300 yards. |

Ya' watch 'em explode when ya' hit 'em! DUUHHH!
They are disease carrying vermin, not game for consumption.

fancy .223 setup with scope and a bench rest? a little overkill for squirells isnt it? i like hikin in with only a box of ammo and my .22lr...but thats just me
cool that you got your daughter out tho...most girls would shy upon shooting a cute little animal....and for the record...how old is she?

We use the 22 rimfires for short range stuff and the girls like the 223 for the 100-300 yards stuff. I use a 22.250 or a big gun for long range shooting with mine. I don't even shoot at any under 400 yards now unless I bring my 375 H&H magnum. I like to shoot it at 100-200 yards because I like to see the big hole it makes in the squirrels, and the ground and the sides of hills.
I can always get my daughters to go with me and usually they'll fight over who's turn it is. The one on the previous picture is 26.

Geez Frank! You don't even have to hit them with that cannon! Anything within three feet of 'em will kill 'em from the impact shock wave and under 100 yards the muzzle blast will kill 'em!

I remember reading that somwhere and thinking I might be able to make some extra cash while having fun, but I can't find the site...
sounds like you're having fun!
