| Which Shotgun???
Im planning on buying my first shotgun this summer before dove season. I need an opinion from you guys as to which one I should choose. I was thinking either a Remington 870, Mossberg 500, Mossberg Silver Reserve, Ithaca 37, or Browning BPS...
Im not rich and unwilling to give up my left nut...so this is pretty much what i can afford. Does anyone know the price range on a new ithaca or Browning???

I've had 3 of those and like the Ithaca the best with the bottom ejection.

Of those choices, the Browning hands down. It's well built and looks nice too. You are looking at about $450-500.

They are all good guns.
I'd buy one that is chambered for 3" shells. Later on you may want to shoot some turkey or waterfowl. I still shoot the ol mossberg 500 pump. You can beat it, drop it in the mud/water and it will fire.

I can't complain about my Remmy 870. You can find a lot of them used and there are many accessories available. It will also hold a 3'' shell. Death_To_

The 870 is gonna be the easiest on the pocket book and be the most durable of the group. the Mossberg will be in there on price, I had one and didn't like the long pump stroke. kept jamming when I'd reload.

get the 870. has a more solid feel than the mossey. not to mention you can shoot dove one day, clean it, throw on an 18 barrel and have a good house gun.

And if you ever need to get a gun fixed in a big hurry, most gun shops can easily repair a Remington 870 and will likely have parts on hand! Ya' cant say that about the Ithaca, Browning, or the Mossburg!
FISH HARD!

I have shot lots of shotguns... I bought a Benelli Nova a few years ago and really like it! The pump action, 12 gauge, camo, and will shoot up to 3 1/2 inch shells.. which really put the whammy on the turkeys and waterfowl. It is very reasonably priced for under $500.
For the dove and quail I use my Ruger Red Label over and under... good luck! gunz

I would shop around and look for one on consignment some where if you don't want to spend to much. That's how I got my Rem 870. Some guy bought it for his son then never used the thing. If I remember right I paid right around $150 for it. Be safe and have fun with what ever gun you choose.
