Re: Which Shotgun???

I picked up a used Lanber O/U for 600 and it is the best 600 I have ever dumped. Take a look on gunbrokers.com.

Re: Which Shotgun???

hey buddy i am a big gun and fishing nut for all around the 870. The price can't be beat and if you spend the little extra for one with the interchangeable choke tubes you can do everything with it from shooting clay pigeons to waterfowl.

Re: Which Shotgun???

I've got !$ shotguns in the closet........... most pumps, a couple autos & SXS's. All have been hunted and abused, I don't believe in owning tools that can't handle abuse.
The 3 shotguns that see the most use are:
1- Mossberg 500, 12 ga., 28" Mod barrel.
2- Mossberg 500, 12 ga., 24" ported barrel with tubes ("Turkey Special")
3- Mossberg 500, 20 ga., 24" barrel with tubes

They see more use, because I never worry about weather they will cycle, eject, jam, etc.
I've got others that see use, but there's always a Mossy in the case back at the truck.............. just in case.

Dave

Re: Which Shotgun???

Buy the one that fits you best. If the 870 fits, the Nova will too. The Nova is pretty slick, I did not like the way it felt while shooting it. I've got a 870 super mag or some crap. It'll shoot up to 3 1/2" shells. If you shoot the right stuff, 2 3/4" is all you'll need unless you do the Turkey thing. If you shoot steel for waterfowl, you'll want to be able to throw the 3 1/2's.

Re: Which Shotgun???

buy the one that fits you best. great advice. you cant shoot them but you can shoulder them. hold gun in ready position and then put gun on to shoulder. how fast do you see the sighting plane?how fast can you find a target? I've shot and like both 870 and BPS. snap shooting is fun.

Sluester said it best... You CAN BEAT IT... And this coming from a guy who has one! Go with the 870, you wont regret it. I have a 12 and a 20 Wingmaster and love them both. I traded my Mossy 500 to some sucker who didnt know any better!gunzgunz

Re: Which Shotgun???

BPS. Definitely a better gun than the old standby 870, but will cost you more. Shoots 3.5" too if you're planning that kind of action. Mine's 15 years old and still going strong. I second the Nova too, but haven't shot it as much. Much lighter than the BPS, and handles nicely. For the price, they're a viable alternative, and don't feel as cheesy as the 870. Make sure that whatever you choose, you save enough cash to get it fitted to you. This will be your best $ spent.
