Wink Turkeys...

are stupid!

I went up to one of my customers houses in Julian and saw at least 39. I walked within bow range before they decided to stroll away. 6 NICE toms, bunch of jakes, hens and even saw some little ones.

should be a good shoot come opening day.

Beware.....I think each flock has a surveyor. Feathered lil fuckers know where the property corners are come opening day.

Re: Turkeys...

Good eyesight and hearing doesn't make them smart. It may make us look like dumbasses though! If they become educated (conditioned), like any animal they become wary. Public land can be a real bitch. You'll have hunters calling to each other.Been there done that. Unless your secret spot is on private land that flock you've been scouting prolly has been seen by others. Hunting private land should make things eaiser with a bow.
I was surprised to see little ones already?

Re: Turkeys...

Yeah, yeah, we don't want to hear any bragging about your hunting spots...

Good luck Mike and Nate. I think I'll wait a little to let the crowds die down from the opener.......

Ain't bragging....just takes the proper reach around techniques!
Shoot pallie, I use to hunt gun areas with my bow all the time. After being stepped on so many times last year, I will be checking out those same places. Micah and I already plan on shooting one of those spots this year. Couple more in the same general area.

I'm with you Mike. I can shoot them off the front porch at my grandfather's ranch. They come off the river and walk right up the dirt road to the front of the house. One of these days, I'm going to step out in my PJ's and cap one of the bastards gunz

They are pretty smart though once they catch on, and man, can those things run like a motherfucker. I've seen them outrun a pickup truck before

Huh. I'll be in the Guatay area too. Just avoiding the opener, since it's too crowded for my taste. But will be gobbling in that area looking for birds a day or 2 later.....
