Asking a forum for suggestions is dangerous. If you are planning on carrying it while hunting weight and size play an important part so a 32 to 44mm objective is the best. That limits your choice of power in a variable. Forget Swarovski because after 10X the objective is 56mm. Same also applies to Night Force with a 50mm. For the bigger is better crowd the 50mm really doesn’t help that much, size and weight offset any gains in light transmission. Yes, the “twilight factor” does apply but it is less important in today’s scopes then the quality of the optical coating.

So here are my choices.
Zeiss Conquest 3.5-18x44 Z5 $1500.
Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 Rapid Z 800 or 1000 $900
Leica 3.5-14x42 $1900
Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x40 BC $660
Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 Nikoplex $500

These are for hunting if you are shooting paper then go with bigger and I can't help you.

The largest scope I have is a VX-3 4.5-14x40 AO on my smallest caliber a 17 HMR. All others wear no more then 10X, but I usually need no more then 2.5X

I have a Bushnell Elite 5x15 40mm AO on my .22-250. I love it, especially for the price. These are the old Bausch & Lomb scopes that are now made my Bushnell.

How much do you want to spend?

How far do you want to shoot?
