So... Now I'm all grown and have my own set of waders .

I have a reservation card #18 for this Sunday.
Marcus tells me Sundays suck as all the birds get shot up on Saturday. He says I need to shoot Geese instead as the Ducks have been slow.

Do I go out there blind without decoys and hope that something flys by shooting a full choke 30" 1100 at 75 yard birds like I have heard many do there? Or is it not worth my time.

I usually go north to shoot and have been spoiled...
Well I just couldn't stay out of this one!

Jason you have a good card but the timing is a little early, my predictions of the birds coming down this week didn't happen. Friends of mine were there yesterday and today and they saw very few geese. The ducks have also been very slow but if you can go I would.

As far as shooting high, I try to discourage it. High shooting continues to make decoying very difficult, but for guys that don't get out much they want to get some shooting so what can you do.

A few guys here from Bloodydecks have hunted with me and know I try to land them, but, with some good concealment and patience you can get these birds in close.

I shoot snows with 3" 12ga #3's

42 snows, 7 limits from 3 different blinds last year

I'm very new to this but learning a little every year.

Be safe most of all!

Stefan and his boys know how to make it happen! Bummer I suck at shooting!!! If I were a better shot we would have been done before lunch on the one day I had the honor of hunting with those guys!!

wister the name brings back memories not all of them good.
I used to hunt that place 20 times a year until I got fed up with idiots trying to tickle geese from 75 yards.

One day while hunting alone I spent two or three hours setting up and carrying 120 goose decoys to a great blind that came open in the mid day.
I sat for at least two more hours waiting for the birds to start moving. The signes of the geese feeding in this spot were awesome.loads of tracks , goose crap and torn up bulrushes.

well just about the time the geese start to fly some guy shows up in the next blind over.In this case it was about as close as the blind sites ever get at wister.
This guy had zero decoys ...none duck or geese. No calls either.

Off in the distance i hear a group of ten or twelve snows coming towards my spread.
they get about 300yards out and cup their wings a bit .A sure sign they are lookingto land. They pass to my west and circle cupping and gliding and flapping a bit. They are still 100 yards high but with my calls and spread they look content with landing ,or at least getting real close and being spiced with some steel bb form my old winchester.
As they circled to the east they came almost directly over the guy who put in no effort at all and he blasts away with results i expected ...no dead geese but he spooked this group and the next two behind them .
I yelled over to let them come down and the asshole said mind your own business.
This was at 1 1/2 hours before the close of shooting.Ten minutes later some more snows were coming and the idiot does the same thing.this time he let them come all the way down to 80 yards.
same result
Now i'm pissed but what can i do.I did what was my only option.i packed up the decoys keeping my shot gun handy and everytime i saw birds coming while packing up I shot to spook them before the asshole got a shot off.
haven't been back to wister since. was that you gary?
