Cool deal yesterday

Writing about this will in no way make it as cool as it was in person but here goes. Madbuck22 and I were out on one of our adventures in search of a big buck (or two ) yesterday. We saw some deer moving around on top of a hill and decided to try to get a little closer to investigate. We got probably 50 yards or so from where we had last seen the deer and all of a sudden I see ears coming over the hill. We freeze on the trail and notice the doe is a little freaked out about something and then right behind her comes a nice little forky! He is on her like nobody's business. As we are standing there in the wide open the buck chases the doe right towards us! She gets about 20 feet from us and then hangs a right and goes under an oak that is about 20 yards away. The buck stays in hot pursuit and brings her back out from under the tree and right towards us again! This time the doe ends up coming within 10 +- from us and looks us in the eye and makes a hard left and back under the tree. The buck had no idea we were there and probably would have cared less. If he would have noticed us we may have been in a little trouble because of how close we were. He chased her back under the tree and then back up and over the hill. The whole show was probably 5-6 minutes and all well within bow range. Luckily for him we are trying to find a bigger model. That doe has no chance unless the big buck we were after ends up taking over for junior (or unless Vermonster sees her in the open ). Like I said, reading this does it NO JUSTICE, but being there was verrrrry cool!
Other than seeing an eagle try to get a fawn in Colorado one time and watching the doe stand up and try to box it away, this ranks high on my list of close encounters of the natural kind!

Sounds like an awesome encounter Jim!

Last season I had left my stand at dark and on the walk down to my truck I had startled several deer who were on this dirt trail. Most of them ran directly towards me. I thought they were gonna run me over but every deer went right or left at the last possible second. I swear that I could've touched several deer as they blew by me. Well, I stood still and let the dust settle...I had a feeling there was still deer around me. I turned my head to the left very slow and I swear to god...face to face with a doe at no more than five feet. I blink and she blows, turns and jumps into the brush at least 10 feet in the air. It was the narliest thing I've ever been presented with in my life...so I kinda know what you're talking about!

Crazy thing is that when I shot a deer last year and it started screaming (that was horrible by the way!) I had an almost identical thing happen. Deer were coming from everywhere trying to see what was going on. I knocked a second arrow in fear for my life!

The brush I was in front of was about 2 1/2 feet tall and the ground was being tore up just on the other side after a good 2 minutes i had to try to see.I turedned my head and there was a fork looking right at 15 feet away I pull the gun up and boom he's gone. It tripped me out never thought 2 minutes after walking in he would walk up on me.

congrats mark! I told gatorfan maybe if that buck saw us at 10 ft he might have tried to horn us cause we were to close to his bitch. i just wanted a smell of her. that was on of the best things i've ever seen how many people get to see that in thier life? very few i would say. the story like he said cant even come close to the real time expirience right then.
