I am curious. Are any of you Wilderness Unlimited members? I want to hunt Wild Boar, & Ducks. Is it worth the cost? Any recommendations are appreciated.

my brothers and I are all memebers of WU. we have visited some of the ranches up north to hunt pigs and we love it. the ranches are so private and well maintained, which makes for a great experience. we hunt the duck clubs down near wister as well. they are in fairly good shape but nothing too amazing. all in all, we are very happy with our membership and enjoy every outing we take. on the other hand, it is pricey!!
I have been a WU member for several years. I dont do any bird hunting but do lots of pig hunting. WU has some great ranches that with lots of pig. Its not like you will just drive in and shoot one but if you are willing to put the time in to learn the ins and outs of some of their ranches you will definatly have opportunities for shots on pig.
In comparison a private pig hunt will cost $500 to $800. If you are only going to go out one or two time a year I would recomend you go to the private guided hunt but if you like to get out 5 or 6 times a year WU is a great alternative.
I see many people complaining about WU having an "old timers club" and they are the only ones to get good ranches in hunting season but I usually get my fist or second ranch pic on opening week. I also see alot of complaints about the ranches being over hunted. The fact of the mater is you still need to put in the time and actually hunt. I dont consider driving a truck around the ranch roads all day hunting. I see alot of hunters doing this. Last year I was on a hill looking down at a group of pigs in a field about 1K yards out. I was tracking down to get close for a shot and I noticed another hunter drive by on the fire road less then 200 yards from the pigs. Too bad you coulnt see the opening they were in from the road. A half hour later I was taking my 150lbs boar out.
If you do join give me a shout and I will take you to a ranch that I was on last week. I never saw so much torn up land. There must be several herds to do all the damage I saw.
