Had a bad night..
Let Jimmy out to go piss. Started barking and never came back.
He was the ultimate lizard hunting 1 eyed Chihuahua- He thought he was bigger than my 98pd Chocolate Lab but he finally met his match. Searched the 10acres till 11pm last night.
Came to work today and got a call from my wife @ 6:30am and she was out in the field looking for something to go on. She called me back no more than 45mins later to tell me she went up to relax and trim her horses hair and that is when the bastard walked right up out side the horse pen and was watching her work. She chased him with a pair of scissors a good 100yrds when he disappered. But then an hour later I got the phone call I was dreading....
I pick up the phone to my wife absolutly histerical- I knew she found Jimmy's body. I started crying- tried to get some words that I could understand out of her. I hung up- gave a couple of minutes...called back.....She answers hyper ventelating and she finally gets it out "I found his Head, they ate everything else".
I hate small dogs, but Jimmy changed that. He had been through a lot in his younger age- Lost an eye because he got a little to close to the street...but even a truck can't stop this bad ass! Got the eye out and sewed it up...no biggy- stupid little dog.

As the years passed I can't tell you how many times when I got home he would meet me at the door wheather from fishing, hunting or just work...he was always at the door waiting for me to pick him up. Most little dogs are total assholes, they snap at strangers, never let you get close...not this guy....he was like a Labradore, super friendly, lovable, lick your face and nice to friends that have come over to your house that he had never met. He was one in a million.
So I just got off the phone with the wife...My wife and kids buried his remains. My sons Elijah and Isaiah made a little cross for his headstone and encircled his grave with rocks. She told me that Grizz had found him (my Chocolate Lab). "That is one awesome dog" she said. "He found the scent and went down into the canyon on a string. He finally arrived under a scrub oak and just sat down and looked back at me and started whinning. When I got there I started balling only finding his head with blood on the dead grass around the area- Grizz immediatly got up and left to return at the top of the bank and waited". " That Coyote came straight from this area when he walked over to the Horse pen this morning" she told me. Grizz and Jimmy where awesome buddies- Jimmy taught Grizz how to hunt lizards- If I could have just taught Jimmy how to retrieve and flush like Grizz!
So I've hunted coyotes for sport, for reduction in their over populated numbers, for safety for Ranchers with cattle.......BUT NOW ITS PERSONAL!
And I will get this PARTICULAR coyote, I know his habits, I've seen him myself a couple of times in the last month since it has cooled off. Morning seems to be his favorite- he is very BOLD to be coming up that close to my wife and to eat my dog and leave me his head.
He will pay with his life now-
To be continued.....
