For some reason I am not worried or afraid of him but I might bring my .45 like I used to next time just in case ; ). I don't think he wants to bother me any more than I want to bother him but what happens if you are attacked and kill one? I assume you report it to DFG but then what? Of course most people would want to mount that kitty(that sounds wrong but you know what I mean). Would they confiscate the body? Anyone know?

i asked a warden:

to legally kill one you have to be in direct danger... so you cant shoot it cause its harassing your dogs or sitting on your car

you have to call them... they take a report... they take the animal and do research with it or used it for educational purposes

but you dont get to keep it...

if i HAD to kill one for my own protection.... i would skin it and have it on my wall... i wouldnt call anyone... it was life or death and i won.... i deserve he trophy!!!!

but im not gonna kill one unless absolutly necessary

I love the shots where the animals just fall over like a domino.

Thanks Man.
I don't want to do them harm but if it is kill or be killed I want to be the killer. Not sure what I would do if it happened. I wouldn't want to report it so I could keep it but am not sure how to handle the pelt, etc...

From what I've heard, if you kill one you are guilty until proven innocent. If it were me...that's why I always have a shovel behind my seat. You know...

Also, you can forget about keeping any part of it!

You cant even have one mounted that was legally killed in another state. Even posession is illegal.

You mean the three S rule? Shoot, shovel, shut up?

There are more of them around than most people think. Where there are deer there will be lions. Even saw one once stalking a small flock of turkeys. I once witnessed a lion stalking two bowhunters hunting pigs from high atop a ridge through the binos. Cat was creeping from bush to bush 30 to 40 yards behind the hunters. Those guys never new they were being hunted while they were hunting themselves. Even had one tackle and shred a full bodied whitetail buck archery target overnight that I had left out.

Kind of like surfing and sharks...you know they are there but you just don't want to think about it...

I think it's a good thing to see them still. People on the East Coast would probably like to see a relocation program. Deer are like rats and pigeons there.

The problem is, you rarely ever see them...but you know that they're there. I don't hate them per say but I do think that they should be managed just like the rest.
