first hunt first shot first deer

This was my son's first hunt on his own. Sure he has been out with me since he was 4 but this was his first chance. We got about a half mile away from our spot and we seen a flashlight right by my blind. We sat on another hill about 1000 yds away. We saw 3 does about 7:30 but no buck

We saw a hunter walking away from that area about 8:30 so I figured it was the guy in my spot. We worked our way around the hillside to glass the area where I hunt. Booyah, 3 does being chased by a couple nice bucks. We collected our stuff and headed out for the stalk. My bro stayed back to spot as we stalked. We got within 150 yards and settled in for the show. Both bucks were going nuts chasing these bitches everywhere. Finally both bucks worked the does to an open area and that's all she wrote. I was real proud of my son, no buck fever and the buck dropped in his tracks.

I don't think he realizes how good his buck is. I told him he may never bag one like that again. Maybe out of state but not in San Diego. The kid is lucky though so we will see. The buck was shot at 9:30. He was in rut, swollen neck and he had been pissing all over himself. Too bad DFG is closed or we would be back out there. There was a 3x4 spotted a week ago.

good luck everyone!
