| BAD DEER OPENER
well its just short of 8am and I am back home.. My favorite spot all I could see at day break was ORANGE, Damn where did they all come from, shit shots going off all around me 15 min after opener, had to be f----n nuts to be there this morning , guess I will wait, I know the deer will wait. By now they are in the next county.. I have never seen so many hunters on opener, like dove opener ,it was real dangerous, thought I was in Nam again.. Keep your butts down and if you dont wear orange your crazy... I think even my cat buddys went on vacation..... |

Yeah, I'm not looking to tomorrow either. Taking a buddy to Palomar just to show him around. I already warned him that we'll probably see 50 hunters. I figure we'll walk around and hope someone bumps one to us.
Sorry your spot got spoiled Gary. Sounded like you were seeing some good deer.....

a couple of years ago i was in my tree stand..i had forgot what weekend it was and was expecting a typical hunt. So about a hour before sun up i start hearing tons and tons of cars way off and lots of noise. I am thinking to myself ohhhhhhhhhh shit its the gun opener. I sat in the tree and just watched the show. Hunter after hunter walking down the trail that is just uphill from my stand. All of them talking up a storm. good times

I got a deer one year back in 2001 or so, and me and my buddies took 5 deer total out of that area. The next year, I was sitting on the ridge, and counted 17 vehicles coming in and out before I left at 9 AM or so.
I just accept it and try not to get too bent out of shape. Hell, it's public land, so not worth getting my panties in a wad. I just leave and try to find somewhere else.....
