he did only test the archery to 25 yards... i think he said that is regards to longer shots... where larger groups at 25 yard will be complete misses at 40 50 60 yards
and he did say "whenever possible".... no mesh will always shoot better... i think hes was really focusing on perfect accuracy not just a kill shot.... so he was right on he statement to recomend no mesh to get a perfect accurate shot

You may be right. Still, at less than 30 yards, I think the mesh's advantages far outweigh the disadvantages and if at all possible I'd leave it up.
I also shot my antelope this year at 50 yards through mesh. Maybe not the smartest thing in the world but it worked out. I compensated for drop and my up and down was perfect. High winds, an alert antelope and movement at the shot made me hit less further right than I wanted but it wasn't the mesh's fault.
I've hunted a good amount with it up and with it down and I think the mesh really helps.
One thing you need to keep in mind is your positioning with the screen. Don't put the blind where the sun will come up or go down and be shining directly into a window. So don't put it facing directly West or East if you can help it. The screen lights up and can actually reflect into your eyes. You can't see though it. Also realize that you may not be able to see as well that first and last 5 minutes of light. It's a tradeoff. Some rangefinders also wont read through it so make sure you take note of some landmarks before you put the screen up beacuse it may not work at the moment of truth.
Shit I miss deer hunting!

hey i fixed it!!!!.... now my blind is up there and you can shoot a hold in mine if you want... just dont shoot a zipper or a seam...pleeeaaasssseee
im gonna leave the shoot throughs up... i might take out one just for the option... but never thought of the rangefinder issues though... i did have a problem with mine on a misty/ foggy day... i have some landmarks already ranged... but i might make some markers to put out for ranges
and the sun issue... im kinda stuck with the blind facing east.... but i have some mountains that block the sun till its a little higher in the day... just have to sit in it to see how it all works out

Ha! I've shot holes in a couple blinds. Really sucks. Also did it twice in Africa. Once on a big impala. Arrow bounced off the window frame (concrete) and still hit the ram in the hip. It only went a few yards and I was able to sneak up and put another arrow in him. Then it happened again on a BIG duiker that I really wanted. I got video of it. All you hear is a loud WHACK and you see pieces of arrow flying through the air. That will freak you out! One of these days I'll be able to keep it together enough to remember to check for clearance.
Sounds like your set up should be fine in the evenings.
Another thing to remember with a blind is to keep the windows the same way all the time. Especialy if you leave the blind out in the field. If the deer are used to the windows being up, they will freak out if they see them down, exposing the black holes. They can pick up just minor changes. Leave it exactly the way you plan on hunting out of it.

Well that is the theory anyway. At night and on unpressured deer it probably wont matter as much. Once they learn that thing means danger it may all change. Anyhow, I'm just offering suggestions, there are exceptions to every rule. If you ever get a chance, watch one of Double Bull's videos on using a ground blind effectively. They are really informative.

Just thought that i'd add some insight to what I was able to evaluate shooting through the mesh on my ground blind.
At 20 yards there was really no arrow flight difference if I was shooting straight through the mesh or at an angle. However at 30 yards I was dead on straight shooting through the mesh but when I shot through the mesh at an angle my arrows dropped a good 6 inches. No affect on my left to right, only my up and down arrow flight.
Keep in mind that I was only drawing @ 60lbs at the time so a faster set-up may see less drop than mine did.
P.S. I also shot a hole in my blind!
