I got that impression. Steel shot through a modified barrel patterns like lead through a full choke anyway...

but your range with steel is way less than no tox, I can shoot no tox and drop birds at 60 yards, try that with steel

That's great, but most of my shots at ducks are less than 30 yards where steel works just fine. You are not the only one who shoots "No Tox" though as I have over 30 boxes of 3 1/2 inch tungsten/iron 2's and BB's for pass shooting honkers, all through a modified barrel no less.

Where are you hunting where you need to take all of these 60 yard shots? What is left of the bird should it come in at 15 yards?

bigger more warry birds and usually dont let them get that close before their dead, once in awhile have one in close but still dont slaughter them but cant say it hasent happened... besides I cant afford a new gun or 400 plus dollars for a new barrel from remmington...

Hiram's used to be my go-to shop. The old guy, Nick I think, was way cool and would shoot the shit and even fixed one of my rifles no charge. Good luck to him and his business.

I will be in the market for an 870 express soon (if I can find some work). I would love to support a local guy, but it's tough when Turners has them on sale for $299. Go figure
