| took my dogs hunting
decided i wanted to try quail hunting (remember seeing some while i was looking for deer and turkey)
so who better to hunt with than my dogs!!!
one dog is a good, obediant, wont go further that 10 yards away... but not a hunter at all.... no drive at all... sluester knows him
the other is a hunter... tons of drive, determined, great nose, will find everything living!!!.... but has no stamina, no obediance and will steal and chew up your birds.
took the first dog (drake) out to the local woods and had some good hiking.. saw a few birds... shot at 6.. missed... super thick tall cover... you heard the birds and right when you saw them they were already over another bush
i swaped out dogs and headed up to julian area with shadow... got pulled over for tailgating (no ticket) cause some jackass slowed down to 20mph on the main road near wynola... had my shotgun in the front seat cause i didnt want the dog to screw it up... cop told me to put in the back befor i leave... so i did and the dog got out and was running all over the road and going apeshit
get to the spot... dog goes nuts looking for stuff... spooks a covey get a shot falls near some bushes walk over to get it.. its alive running around shoot again flip it and takes off into some bushes and i loose it
spooks some more birds.. get a shot... she almost catches it befor it hits the ground... grabs it and takes off!!!... took about 20 mins to get it from her (not a soft mouth at all... oh well... after that she was too tired to do anything and just layed by the car
finished up with 5 shot... 4 recovered.. shot 1 box of walmart cheap ammo... had fun... good excersize for me and my dogs!!!
sorry so long and no pics but it was an adventure and my new puppy will have both obediance and drive!!!
