Moose

We had seen this bull a few times in the last week, and he had avaded us twice. One afternoon (monday) we glassed him form a rocky mountainside and watched him move in to an alder patch. We got a few guys in some trees, as I ran a flush though the alders trying to kick him out of the dence brush out into the open meadows. On my way though, I cam a cross a small spruce tree, decide to climb it to get my bearings. I sat in the tree for maybe a minute before I saw his horns bobbing at the edge of the alders about 100 yards away. I thought ther was no way I was going to get a shot, but got ready, and eyed him through the my scope. In that time he had moved out inthe meadow 2o yards and I had a clean shot. He was moving slowly straight broadside. I hit him twice in the lungs, and he went down within 10 seconds. It was late in the evening, and we had to get him ready to spend the nite so we could retrieve him in the AM. Got up at 6 and was nice to see no bears had messed with him. Was a preety easy haul out, had him to camp by 930 AM thanks to the help of my boys. Evan, Nick, and Calvin.

Really nice moose!!! Congrats!!!

Oh, and nice that you dropped him somewhere near where you could get him back in one piece. Probably made it a little easier, huh?

yea, we usualy use a chainsaw winch to get them out whole. Doesent really save time, but it is easier, and it keeps the meat very clean.

Nice one! I've been invited to hunt moose a few times but I haven't gone yet because I never really wanted to clean one!
