To each their own. I just know what I would do. There are anonymous ways to handle the situation without anyone being put in jeapordy. Our local deer hunt holds a soft spot in my heart. There are too many schmucks out there. We need the good guys to protect it. It isn't snitching, it's protecting what is important to you.
I didn't see that moron's post. What a piece of work. He probably doesn't even hunt and was just trying to stir up shit. | Agreed Nate!
That was only one of at least three posts...if I were to guess, it was the guy who got busted up there or a close friend. He was very...very angry with gomplin put it that way. Some guys are okay having this shit in the back of their mind out there...I'm just not one of them. Our local deer hunting is special to me too, but in the grand scheme of things it's just not worth it. I'm sure my wife and kids would appreciate to have me around as long as possible. I also have big future plans and our local mountains are just the beginning of my hunting journey...or so I hope.
Tread lightly and don't forget just how small that hill really is. I can't believe how many guys I know up there already!

Either way, I wouldn't drop my own lick but If I happened to notice one I wouldn't hunt too far away..... | Good catch, I meant a disadvantage to the deer.

I thought it was 400yds or 10 days after all bait is gone. so that means nobody can hunt the hill. it's such a small area.

Baiting is not real hunting anyways. You need stocking skills to make a real kill.

Baiting works great here in Kansas. I feed the deer on my property year round with corn along with the food plots that have been planted each year. I also put mineral blocks as well as loose salt around the feeders too. Its good for all the animals like turkeys, birds, coons. Hell Ive even seen coveys of quail and an occasional pheasant come to the feeders.
Unfortunately at my property in Missouri, baiting is illegal. I still put out salt and minerals, which are legal, along with the food plots that I plant.
Kansas Archery Season Starts Sept. 22 but I usually wait til the rut to start hunting.
Good Hunting,
Jeff

I have hunted private property in palomar, ramona outskirts, etc. I have personally seen other landowners put out cob for deer and turkeys. These are landowners with no livestock, cows, goats, etc. When I notified dfg there response was "well just get as close as you can to their property and maybe you will get one."
I personally do not bait. Between dog food, goat food I wouldnt be able to afford the money to try and keep deer in my area. We basicly have our goats for fire protection. They roam our property and our neighbors to keep the vegetation down. We do give therm cob and only portions at a time. I'm not a biologist and I do not know the impact it has on them but they have been fine for years.
I also have seen corn, salt licks and other baiting techniques all over the mountains. These guys that bait usually dont get deer. That is the reason they feel the need to bait anyways. I would never call dfg on them because between the mountain bikers, hikers, bunny huggers we have enough people roaming our woods as it is.
If dfg wont do anything about the landowners baiting why should we start ratting each other out. Dfg is notorious for writing suspect tickets in our woods, seen people get a ticket for notching the wrong day on their tag. I witnessed an older gentlemen wave down dfg to validate his kill, and they wrote him up for notching the wrong date. Sure a bonehead move on his part but an honest mistake.
I agree with mergrath I wouldnt call on anybody, not saying that anyone else should or shouldnt so dont get butt hurt. I would be afraid of retaliation.
good luck guys
