Looking for an electronic collar for my lab

I need to buy an electronic collar for my 5 month old choc lab. I have heard that Tri-tronics and Dogtra are the best on the market right now. Anyone have any suggestions with brands and models. He will be mostly for duck but might be used for upland game. Thanks for your help.

If you plan on duck hunting, I would highly recommend a waterproof transmitter. You may also consider a collar with a paging/vibrating function, I find it helpful to get the dog's attention without having to whistle when in the field.
You're on the right track with the two brands mentioned. I currently have a Dogtra 1200NCP (older model) and have used it for almost 5 years now.

I've owned both and I use dogtra now. Smaller transmitters are nice and they work good.

Thanks for your help. I have also heard about SportsDog. Has anyone heard anything negative about them?

A Sportdog collar should fit your bill for an entry level collar. That being said, Tri-tronics (My choice) and Dogtra are the most popular brands. Check out this site, www.collarclinic.com
